Why an Introductory Ride?

Your first step into horse riding at Lavant Equestrian

Curious to see what Lavant Equestrian is all about? Interested in our membership? Book an Introductory Ride, a relaxed, no-obligation, one-hour session (approximately 40 minutes of riding) where you can meet our friendly team, explore our facilities and find your ideal horse or pony.

The Introductory Ride Provides:

  • A great opportunity for you/your child to meet our team and horses
  • A chance to tell us about your/your child’s previous horse riding experience and other details so we can select an ideally suited horse or pony and coach
  • Time for you to assess us, our horses, our fantastic facilities and our expertise
  • The perfect introduction for first-timers, right up to experienced riders in need of a skill-refresh

With more than 50 happy, well-trained, kind and reliable horses and ponies, we’re confident we’ll find the perfect match for every rider. Your introductory session also helps us recommend the most suitable membership and coach to support your child/your riding journey.

What Happens During the Introductory Ride?

Here’s what to expect during your introductory ride:

  1. Arrive and meet our friendly team of staff who will introduce you to your one-to-one instructor. Now the exciting bit, allow an hour in total and…
  2. Meet your calm, well-mannered horse or pony then…
  3. Spend the next 40 minutes riding in either the indoor or outdoor arenas with your one-to-one equestrian coach

The whole Introductory Session will be under the careful guidance of your instructor and will also include a brief tour of our yard and facilities.

Please note: Parents are welcome to stay with young children for the duration.

Safety and Care

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. All sessions are led by our highly qualified instructors and take place in secure, fully supervised arenas. We can provide complimentary hat hire for introductory sessions, and our team will happily advise on suitable clothing and footwear prior to the session or see our FAQs page for details.

What Happens Next?

After your session, your instructor will discuss your goals and recommend the most suitable membership type and coach for you.

Lavant Equestrian operates as a membership-based horse riding school, meaning regular riders benefit from consistent lessons, structured progression and priority access to our facilities and horses, we’ll reserve your regular riding slot and help you begin your journey towards confident, consistent riding.

Membership includes a weekly lesson on the same day and at the same time with your assigned coach to ensure progress, confidence and continuity.

You’re also very welcome to pop in and meet us in person prior to your introductory ride, our team will be delighted to show you around and answer any questions before you book.
